Flight Risk (2025 film) Summary
Winston, an accountant who has turned informant against his old employer, the Moretti criminal family, is apprehended by U.S. Marshal Madolyn Harris as he is hiding out in a remote area of Alaska. Madolyn arranges for Winston to testify against the Morettis in New York City, so she leases a tiny private plane to transport them to Anchorage. Texan pilot Daryl Booth, who resides in Alaska, reveals that the plane’s radio is malfunctioning.
Winston notices that the person in the photo is not “Daryl” and finds his pilot’s license behind the seat in front of him while he is manacled in the middle of the aircraft. He tries to alert Madolyn, but she can’t hear him because she’s wearing a headset. Following a brief exchange with Madolyn, the pilot’s accent falters, exposing him as a hitman who is exploiting Daryl’s identity to carry out orders to murder Winston. After using a Taser to immobilize him, Madolyn assumes control of the aircraft.

Madolyn can inform Caroline Van Sant, her immediate superior, about the issue via her satellite phone. Caroline informs her that if the Morettis are to be held accountable, Winston must be kept alive at all costs. It is discovered that while Winston worked for the Morettis, he embezzled $1 million from them. Caroline informs her that the pilot has tortured the real Daryl Booth to death and promises to get another pilot to phone her and assist them in finding their way to safety. When Caroline appears hesitant to send help immediately, Madolyn starts to have her doubts, so she contacts Director Coleridge to voice them. But when Coleridge reveals his beach house, Winston recognizes the address from a previous payment he made for Moretti, exposing Coleridge as being on Moretti’s payroll and endangering Caroline’s safety.

Shackled to the overhead rack, the pilot awakens and taunts Winston, threatening to kill his mother, whose address he knows, and to subject him to pain. Additionally, he discloses that Madolyn had been placed on desk duty for some years after her negligent actions during her most recent field mission resulted in the death of a witness under her care; Madolyn handcuffed the witness in a bathroom while she was showering and then the hotel was firebombed, and Madolyn fled, forgetting the witness.
To keep Madolyn calm, Hasan, a pilot on the ground in Anchorage, telephones her and shows her how to operate the aircraft. He also charms her by promising to take her out for a drink after they make a safe landing. After breaking out of his restraints, the pilot attacks the two. He uses the seatbelt to choke Madolyn and stabs Winston twice. She is on the verge of fainting when Winston takes the dagger from his chest and slashes the belt, enabling Madolyn to use a flare pistol to incapacitate the pilot at the rear of the aircraft. Madolyn promises to bring Coleridge down with the Morettis after he contacts her to inform her that Caroline was killed in a car accident.

Hasan burns down their remaining fuel supply to help Madolyn land the plane as soon as possible because Winston is now in critical need of medical assistance. The pilot attacks and regains consciousness during the approach, but Madolyn shoots him, and he is flung from the aircraft and dies on the landing.
Madolyn is met by a beaming Hasan as the ground team rushes Winston into an ambulance. But as she catches the suspicious-looking policeman attempting to strangle Winston, Madolyn spots him getting into the ambulance, follows him, and shoots him dead. Coleridge, who was on the other end of the order, is informed by Madolyn that the dishonest cop will be down for a long time after she picks up his phone. Winston and Madolyn exchange a smile as the ambulance heads to the hospital.

Flight Risk (2025 Film) Production
Jared Rosenberg’s screenplay Flight Risk was selected for inclusion on the “Black List” of Hollywood’s most popular unproduced screenplays for the year in December 2020. It was announced in May 2023 that Mark Wahlberg would star and Mel Gibson would helm. Michelle Dockery and Topher Grace joined the cast in January 2024.
Icon Productions and Davis Entertainment Company co-produced the movie. Hammerstone Studios, Blue Rider Pictures, and Media Capital Technologies, a film finance company, collaborated on its production. Together with Bruce Davey, John Davis, and John Fox, Gibson directed and produced the movie.

In June 2023, principal photography got underway in Las Vegas. In July 2023, two days of filming took place in Mesquite, Nevada. Alaska was also used for filming. The filmmakers were permitted by SAG-AFTRA to film during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. The last day of filming was August 2023. In place of donning a bald cap, Wahlberg shaved a portion of his head every day while filming the character of a balding pilot.
Flight Risk (2025 Film) Reviews
Cathrine Doyle
Both my spouse and I thought the film was fantastic. I wouldn’t have realized at first, save from the fact that I knew Mark Wahlberg was portraying the villain before going. Otherwise, it was unpredictable; the other antagonists, including the pilot who spoke and instructed the constable on how to fly, were all concerned about her. I was constantly concerned about whether he was a good or evil individual. Even though I know the scenery was created later, watching the film on a large screen gave me the impression that I was flying through Alaska. They did a fantastic job, though.

I thought it was great. You don’t see Mark Walburg play the villain very often, and in some scenes, he looks crazy. It was a good thriller, and I stayed up the entire time. They’ve been making films that are longer than three hours, so I find it difficult to stay awake in a comfortable recliner that reclines back like a bed, so this was ideal! The concept of someone having an awful day and everything that could go wrong did happen, and you thought it would have a simple ending, but I think they did it beautifully. I appreciated it.

We thought this movie was great. It’s not taking itself too seriously; it’s an action movie. In contrast to Michelle Dockery’s sincere portrayal of the US Marshal, Mark Wahlberg makes a hilarious antagonist. Topher Grace’s acerbic yet humorous running commentary offers much-needed tension relief.
Leah Remini plays a convincing and successful persona, even though you never see her.
Eden Stewart
I don’t know why there are so many one-star reviews for this film. It’s worth at least three or four stars, even though it’s not the best movie you’ll ever see. The performance by Topher and Mark was excellent. Good storyline. Mel did a fantastic job of adding interest to almost the whole movie in the airplane. I wasn’t bored, despite my slight concern. Additionally, there were plenty of mildly humorous moments. Overall, it’s a great, exciting action film.
